Bee Hive Varroa Mite Counter Ruler Tool
The Varroa Mite counter tool, is to help monitor and calculate when a colony of bees need to be treated. In order to use the tool, then first install a Varroa mite board at the bottom of the hive, ideally use some Vaseline etc to help stick the mites to the board, leave for 5 to 7 days then use the tool and place it over an area with lots of mites, count the mites within the square and divide them by the amount of days the board has been in place.
If within the square there are:
10 mites per day drop then there is likely a low amount of mites in the hive
10 to 30 mites per day suggests there could be an increase in mites, and you might want to treat or prepare to treat
Above 30 mites per day, is a high amount of Varroa Mites and you should treat straight away !
These values are recorded on the tool for ease of memory
